Sint Maarten
Sint Maarten is a small Caribbean island nation located in the southern part of the Lesser Antilles. It is situated in the northeastern Caribbean Sea, approximately 240 kilometers east of Puerto Rico. The island is divided into two parts – the Dutch side, which is known as Sint Maarten, and the French side, which is called Saint-Martin. Sint Maarten is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, while Saint-Martin is an overseas collectivity of France.
The road network is relatively small, with a total length of approximately 80 kilometers. Most of the roads on the island are paved and well-maintained, and there are several expressways that connect the different parts of the island. However, there are also some gravel roads and 4×4 tracks in more remote areas that are suitable for off-road vehicles.
Sint Maarten is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts, and there are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, and hiking on the island. The terrain is varied, ranging from flat coastal areas to hilly inland regions, and there are several trails and paths that offer beautiful views of the surrounding scenery. To make the most of your outdoor adventures, it’s a good idea to use topographical maps from GarminWorldmaps, which provide detailed information about the terrain and elevation of the island.
