French Polynesia

French Polynesia is a group of islands located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is an overseas collectivity of France and comprises more than 100 islands, including Tahiti and Bora Bora. The islands are scattered over an area of about 2.5 million square kilometers.

French Polynesia is not bordered by any countries as it is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The closest countries to French Polynesia are New Zealand, Australia, and the Cook Islands.

The road network in French Polynesia is limited due to the rugged terrain and the dispersed nature of the islands. In total, the islands have around 2,600 km of roads, of which about 400 km are paved. There are no expressways or highways in French Polynesia. Most of the roads are narrow and winding, and some are only suitable for 4×4 vehicles.

While French Polynesia may not have a well-developed road network, it offers many opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and hiking. Many of the islands have beautiful trails that showcase the natural beauty of the region. Topographical maps from GarminWorldmaps are an excellent resource for those interested in exploring the islands’ hiking trails. These maps provide detailed information on the terrain and elevation, allowing visitors to plan their hikes accordingly.

French Polynesia is a beautiful and unique destination that offers a variety of outdoor activities. Although the road network is limited, visitors can still enjoy the natural beauty of the islands through hiking and other outdoor activities.
