Cuba

Cuba is an island nation located in the Caribbean Sea, south of the United States and east of Mexico. The country is the largest island in the Caribbean and is also known for its vibrant culture, stunning beaches, and historic landmarks.

Cuba is bordered by the United States to the north, the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands to the northeast, Haiti to the east, Jamaica to the south, and the Cayman Islands to the west. The country is also close to the coast of Florida, which is just 90 miles to the north.

In terms of transportation, Cuba has a total road network of approximately 60,000 kilometers, with around 29,000 kilometers of paved roads and 31,000 kilometers of unpaved roads. The country’s road infrastructure is relatively undeveloped compared to many other countries, and many of the roads are in poor condition.

Cuba has two main expressways, the Autopista Nacional and the Carretera Central, which run from east to west across the country. The Autopista Nacional is the longest highway in Cuba, stretching for around 700 kilometers from Havana to Santiago de Cuba. The Carretera Central, on the other hand, runs for around 1,250 kilometers from Havana to Guantanamo, and is one of the oldest highways in Cuba.

In addition to its main highways, Cuba also has a network of unpaved roads and 4×4 tracks that are primarily used for agricultural purposes. Many of these roads are not suitable for standard vehicles and are only accessible by 4x4s or other off-road vehicles.

Overall, while Cuba’s road infrastructure may not be as developed as other countries, it is still possible to travel throughout the country by road. Visitors to Cuba can rent cars or hire drivers to explore the island’s many sights, from its pristine beaches to its historic cities and cultural landmarks.
